European Population Conference EPC'2003
Structure of EPC '2003
The scientific programme of EPC 2003 was structured into one plenary session and a set of simultaneous sessions. In addition two round table sessions and side meetings were scheduled.
The working language of the conference was English.
Plenary Session
The Plenary Session reflected the particular scope of the conference.
The Plenary Session lasted 90 minutes. At the Plenary Session only one invited paper was presented.
This keynote address lasted 45 minutes, and was followed by a co-referee who commented on the topic and by discussion from the floor.
Special sessions and side meetings
Three Round Table Sessions are organised:
Round Table 1. The economic context of population ageing - macro and micro perspectives

"Is the Second Demographic Transition a Useful Concept for Demography", organiser Aart Liefbroer and Francesco Billari.
Simultaneous Sessions
The parallel sessions were structured around general themes, which had been proposed by the IOC/NOC and developed by Convenors based on abstracts of the participants.
Two types of Simultaneous Sessions were organised: Paper/Abstracts based sessions and Poster/Abstract based sessions. Both types of sessions were strictly on an equal footing.
Paper/Abstract sessions lasted 90 minutes, allowing 4-5 oral presentations of 10-15 minutes each. In the Poster sessions the number of posters varied between 4 and 15.
